At Eastfield we believe that good attendance makes a huge difference.
Daily registers are kept on your child’s attendance at school and the registers are inspected on a regular basis.
If your child is absent from school please phone the school office (01604 405042) before 9.10am when our first day absence procedures are put into operation. If we have not received notification of why your child is absent from school we will contact you by telephone or home visit. On returning to school, please provide your child with a dated note for the class teacher explaining the absence.
Legislation states that failure to let the school know the reason for absence will result in an unauthorised absence being recorded by your child’s name. All parents need to be aware that unless an explanation is received for ALL absences, then that period of absence will be coded as “unauthorised” and appear on your child’s record. As part of the annual written report, parents receive a copy of the computerised breakdown for their child’s attendance through the year.
The school has an attendance award system in place to acknowledge good attendance,100% attendance, class attendance, house attendance and improved attendance are all prize categories.
If your child will be attending a medical/dental appointment during school time then please advise the class teacher in advance. However, we do ask that you make every effort to arrange appointments outside school hours.
If you wish to collect your child for an appointment during the school day then you should go to the school office.
