New Associate Headteacher cheers on pupils at Summer Cup

Eastfield Academy had a special supporter at this years Summer Cup, as Mrs Hamilton, new Associate Headteacher came along to cheer on the pupils.

Mrs Hamilton, who will be joining the academy full-time in September, attended the annual sporting event organised by the David Ross Education Trust (DRET).

Over 30 of the DRET academies competed in athletics, swimming and hockey for a chance to lift the trophy. A host of Olympic and commonwealth athletes were also there on the day including Gabby Logan and Denise Lewis OBE.

Jessica, Year 5, said: “It was so nice that Mrs Hamilton came along to support us. She was really lovely and easy to talk to. I think all the children at Eastfield will like her a lot.”

Bradley, also Year 5, added: "She's really kind and generous. "I'd give her five stars out of five as she really cared about us and wanted us to achieve our best.”

Mrs Hamilton is an experienced senior leader with a strong record of improving the life chances of young people.

She commented: “I was delighted that Eastfield invited me to this amazing event. I had no idea how big it would be and I have definitely never experienced a sports event like it!

“The children were fantastic and made me feel so welcome. They really are a credit to the academy and I cannot wait to meet more pupils before the end of term.”

The academy will be holding a meet and greet sessions for parents on Wednesday 15th July. Details will be sent out soon.
