Sport and Enrichment News at Eastfield Academy
Sport at Eastfield
Sport has continued to flourish at Eastfield, with pupils taking part in a wide range of competitive events, enrichment activities, and high-quality sporting opportunities that support both physical development and wellbeing.
Competitions and Sporting Success
Pupils have proudly represented the school in the Northampton Sport Cross Country. Their determination and resilience were evident throughout the event, with an outstanding achievement of two pupils qualifying for the County Cross Country Finals—a fantastic accomplishment.
We also took part in the DRET Boccia Event, where pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork, focus, and sportsmanship in an inclusive competitive setting.
A major highlight of the term was the Hockey Tournament at Moulton, where Eastfield achieved excellent results across different tiers. The team were crowned winners in Tier 2 and finished second in Tier 3, showcasing strong skill levels, teamwork, and commitment across all matches.
Enrichment and Specialist Support
We were delighted to welcome Mal from DRET Sport into school, who delivered a highly engaging Games Day with a focus on inclusion, participation, and enjoyment for all pupils. In addition, a Health and Wellbeing Workshop was delivered, supporting pupils’ confidence and reinforcing the importance of staying active and healthy.
Mal also ran a Handball Club during lunchtime, giving pupils the opportunity to try a new sport, develop their skills, and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.
PE Development and Staff CPD
Alongside pupil activities, Mal worked closely with staff by delivering PE CPD sessions with Year 2, helping to strengthen subject knowledge, improve confidence, and enhance the quality of PE teaching across the school.
Sport plays an important role in life at Eastfield, providing inclusive opportunities for competition, enrichment, and personal development. We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements and look forward to continuing this success in the coming terms.
